Rüttlenäckerstr. 8, 88094 Oberteuringen, Germany
Phone: +49 1577 2629419 · E-mail: joachim.welsch@posteo.de
No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.
2. Overview
This website is purely informational. It uses no analytics or tracking services and embeds no content from third-party servers (fonts, icons and stylesheets are served from our own server). Personal data is only processed in the cases described below.
The website is available in several languages. On your first visit the language follows your browser's language setting (the Accept-Language header), which your browser sends with every request anyway. Only if you actively switch the language using the language switcher does your browser store a cookie named “lang” containing the chosen language code (for example “en”) for one year. It contains no personal data and serves solely to greet you in your chosen language on your next visit. As a cookie strictly necessary for a function you have explicitly requested, it does not require consent (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act). You can delete it in your browser at any time. The website sets no other cookies.
3. Hosting and server log files
The website is hosted on a server in Germany operated by Welsch Software itself. Each time a page or a download file is requested, the web server automatically records the following in log files:
- the IP address of the requesting device,
- date and time of the request,
- the requested file and the amount of data transferred,
- the HTTP status code,
- the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser transmits it,
- browser type and operating system (user agent).
This processing is technically necessary to deliver the website and additionally serves the security and stability of the server (detection of attacks and errors). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website). The log files are rotated daily and deleted after 15 days at the latest. They are neither combined with other data nor evaluated for marketing purposes.
4. Contact by e-mail or phone
If you contact us by e-mail or phone – for example with bug reports, requests, contributions to the project or questions about setup – we process the data you provide (name, e-mail address, content of the message) in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries and in the further development of the program).
Our e-mail is handled by the provider Posteo e.K., Berlin, Germany. The data is deleted once your enquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply. Bug reports that are incorporated into the program may be kept longer in anonymised form.
5. Voluntary contributions via PayPal
Under “Support the development” we link to PayPal. Only when you click that link do you leave our website; the payment is handled entirely by PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg. Which data PayPal processes is described in PayPal's privacy statement.
Welsch Software receives from PayPal your name, e-mail address, the amount and the time of the payment. We process this data to record the payment (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and retain it as long as tax and commercial law require (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, up to ten years).
6. Links to other websites
The website contains links to welsch-software.com, gnu.org, fontawesome.com and paypal.com. When you click them, the privacy policies of the respective operators apply. Merely viewing our site transmits no data to these operators.
7. The AutoFileSync program
AutoFileSync works entirely locally on your computer or between the computers you have configured. It sends no usage or telemetry data to Welsch Software. The e-mail notification on errors uses only the mail server you have entered yourself.
8. Your rights
With regard to the personal data concerning you, you have the following rights towards us:
- access (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- objection to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
To exercise these rights, an e-mail to joachim.welsch@posteo.de is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany, baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de.
9. No automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place.
